I posted the above image on Facebook a couple weeks ago. It received a solid number of "likes" and numerous comments. One of the comments was "Are you two ever home?".
Haha, LOL. I can see how someone might get this impression. I have been gone a lot the past several months. Mostly to tend to my little sister while she struggled through the aftermath of a devastating automobile crash in early June. But that's still not staying home, so, yeah, I guess.
The funny thing is, this photo was snapped 2 miles from my home, on one of my regular running tracks. We live in Cleveland.
" recognizing the beauty in your daily surroundings will make you feel better about where you are in your life - physically, emotionally and spiritually"
Which brings me to this point. No matter where you live, there is beauty around you. You might have to look a little harder for it than the geographically gifted. Not all of us can live in the mountains, or near the beach, or in the desert, places where heavenly splendor serves as the backdrop to our everyday. But you can find your Instagram moments no matter where you live.
If you're fortunate enough to travel to exotic destinations on the regular - and your Facebook friends probably know who you are - you might not feel as moved to find the beauty in your own unspectacular neighborhood. But I'm telling you, you should make the effort.
Whether you travel a lot, or rarely at all, recognizing the beauty in your daily surroundings will make you feel better about where you are in your life - physically, emotionally and spiritually.
It's about feeling gratitude inside of you. And more importantly, expressing it outward and upward.
So soak it in, friends. Bask in the glory of your surroundings. Look for it and it will find you.
